Matt Fry has been a huge advocate for the mentorship program we were starting up as part of the local ACHE chapter for Central and Southern Illinois, Mid-America Healthcare Executives Forum (MAHEF). Matt helped us create an action plan for recruitment of mentees, support of C-Suite executives from across the region to participate as mentors and even served as one of our first mentors for the chapter. He received high marks for his work with a young healthcare careerist.
Matt’s energy and passion for the mentorship program was evident as he participated in monthly meetings with the ACHE chapter while leading one of the largest hospitals in central Illinois and finishing his doctoral degree. He connected leaders from Illinois with his former colleagues in California to share their best practices in their established mentor program.
Beyond Matt’s work with the chapter, Matt became an informal mentor to me, giving me a sounding board as I was weighing some career opportunities. He cared enough to drive 90 minutes to meet me for lunch and visit one of our OP centers, sharing experiences from his past positions. Matt’s servant leadership is evident and helps drive his day to day leadership decisions.
